I do this because I LOVE talking to and helping writers with craft and story. My philosophy is that understanding you, your writing experience, style, goals, and feedback preferences are key to establishing the best editorial relationship.
I love working with brand new writers, emerging talents, and seasoned published professionals. All services are individual and tailored to each author/project.
Due to professional and other commitments, as well as the dedication I reserve for each project, I keep my client list limited. I am currently open to expressions of interests for 2025. Please express your interest via the Contact page. I do allow people to purchase single-session gift cards because I know this is the perfect gift for your creative friends and family.
I read broadly across many genres. You can see what I especially love on my About Me page. I’m happy to work with anyone on their line-level writing and story development, but the following are NOT a great fit for me for manuscript assessment or developmental editing: poetry collections, novels in verse, picture books, horror (I slept with the light on until I was 17), dark dystopian, hard sci-fi, spy or military novels, and stories without women. I will happily work with creative non-fiction writers (personal essay and memoir) on their writing craft, but please be aware that my publishing knowledge for non-fiction is limited.
I am based on the east coast of Australia, usually AEST or AEDT, but will happily work with any writers around the globe writing in English.
Whilst I may choose to fix or comment on grammar or typos, I do not provide copy editing or proofreading services.

Manuscript assessments are best for those in first or early draft stages. Includes:
30-minute video call prior to assessment to discuss project + concerns/goals (or completed questionnaire)
Structural feedback provided in a 1750-word report
1 hour video call to discuss feedback
$250 AUD for each 10,000 words
Minimum 20,000 words | $500 AUD
Maximum 110,000 words | $2750 AUD
Approximate timeline 4-6 weeks.

Developmental editing
Developmental editing is best for those in late draft stages looking to self-publish or submit for traditional publishing. Includes:
30-minute video call prior to assessment to discuss project + concerns/goals (or completed questionnaire)
Structural feedback provided in a 2500-word report. Line-level feedback provided in-document.
1 hour video call to discuss feedback
$375 AUD for each 10,000 words
Minimum 20,000 words | $750 AUD
Maximum 110,000 words | $4125 AUD
Approximate timeline 4-8 weeks

Times are tough and writing can be an expensive pursuit. Sometimes we don’t need a full report, we just need a trusted eye over things. A discussion-only manuscript assessment includes:
